With many years of devotion to his craft, Brian West was honored with a major research award through the California Society of Plastic Surgeons during his time in surgical training for his research in the use of ultra sound in medicine. As Brian West served as an assistant clinical professor of plastic surgery at the University of California @ Davis, he was an instructor for general surgery and plastic surgery for doctors who were serving their residencies.

Brian West has been asked to make a number of presentations to a wide array of medical specialty associations. The associations have included the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, the California Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Pediatric Society and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
